California: Via Tennessee

In March 2010, my parents and I took a road trip to Los Angeles. I took some handheld footage here and there and lazily threw it together to make a short/silent film (solely for personal documenting purposes). Here is a teaser. Music by Explosions in the Sky.

Vervilla

The bridge pictured here is located in the Vervilla community, on Swann Mill Road.  It is a staple of the community and part of my ancestry as well.  Some of my earliest memories as a child were of my Grandmother and I taking the car down to this creek bed to wash.  Despite being one of only five bridges of its kind (double arch/one lane), the state has decided to tear it down and widen the road.  I may have very well gotten the last few shots.

Depot Bottom

I recently went back home to visit the folks and had a morning free.  I decided to spend it in an old part of town, an area called Depot Bottom. I have always wanted to shoot this location and glad I finally got to.

The grave above belongs to one of my ancestors.  In the late eighteen hundreds, a bootlegger by the name of Miss Pokey used this gravestone to hide her moonshine.  The plates on both sides slide off and customers would exchange their money for the spirits.

Derek Scott

I had the opportunity of shooting singer/songwriter Derek Scott over the weekend.  These shots were for his upcoming album that looks to be released this May.  You can check out his website here.
